Bakti donates RM20,000 to Gurpuri

The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) today donated RM20,000 to the Gurpuri Foundation in conjunction with Vasakhi, the Sikh festival.

Bakti vice-president Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, presented the cheque to foundation trustee Giani Sukhdaiv Singh at the foster home in Ampang here.

Rosmah was representing Bakti president Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, the Prime Minister’s wife.

In her speech, Endon noted the value of inter-racial co-operation and the need for voluntary work in becoming "excellent, glorious and distinctive" Malaysians.

"The united strength of our different races will not only re-shape the very foundation the country was built on, but will also provide the security and universal status that Malaysia is currently pursuing."
